No more than a placeholder right now, ShadowShack needs to evolve: time and inclination will tell. The name comes from a time of my youth spent on the mean streets of Kensington, in Philadelphia. The Shadow Shack was the most notorious, vicious gang around. They were older than us and they hung at Sepviva and Lehigh, if I recall correctly. Back in the 60's and 70's, you didn't mess with these guys. I still have the small scar from a brief encounter with the craziest of them all when, one day, he intimidated me with a pocket knife. I don't even remember why. My parents called the cops once I got home, and he was picked up. Though he lived a few doors down from me (when out of prison) we, fortunately, rarely crossed paths. This is the same guy who served time for killing a kid over a nickel bag of chips. As he sat in the back of the car, my dad approached him and stared with a look that could kill. He didn't say a word, just stared. I thought I was dead meat when the guy got home from the police station. That never happened. Though he had opportunity, he never said a word to me from that day on. I thank my lucky stars (and my dad's stare).
I suppose the use of the name ShadowShack is cathartic. I don't know. I just thought it would make a good name for a website/business/what-have-you. |
